Tuscany Wine Trip 2025

A Journey Through Italy’s Most Enchanting Region

Tuscany is rightly considered one of the most beautiful travel destinations in the world. Rolling hills, golden vineyards, medieval towns, and warm Italian hospitality make it a place you’ll want to return to again and again. Add in extraordinary cuisine and world-class wines, and Tuscany becomes an unforgettable experience for every traveler.

Our recent trip through this magnificent region was a celebration of everything that makes Tuscany unique — from historic cellars and art-filled wineries to memorable meals in hilltop villages.

We began our tour in the Montepulciano area, a paradise for wine lovers. Our first stop was Palazzo Vecchio, where Maria Luisa welcomed us once again for an insightful winery tour. After exploring the estate, we relaxed on the newly built terrace overlooking Tuscany’s breathtaking countryside while sampling an array of exceptional wines.

Next, we drove to the medieval heart of Montepulciano for a warm welcome at Enoteca La Dolce Vita, where Cristian treated us to an outstanding lunch paired with local vintages. The day concluded at Cantina Dei, home to an extraordinary spiral staircase leading to its wine cellar. We enjoyed a curated tasting in the garden as Catherina Dei shared stories about her family’s heritage and passion for winemaking.

After settling in Siena — our base for the trip — we strolled through the historic Piazza del Campo at sunset, savoring an aperitif amid the city’s lively atmosphere.

The following day took us to the famous Chianti wine region. At Castello Monterinaldi, Alessandro introduced us to a 1975 sweet Vin Santo — a rare wine as old as myself! We then journeyed through Panzano to Greve for a traditional Tuscan lunch before ending the day at the spectacular Antinori winery, a masterpiece of modern architecture where we sampled their signature Chianti wines.

Sunday was dedicated to sightseeing. A guided walk through Siena’s historic streets gave way to a drive toward San Gimignano, famous for its medieval towers. Here, we tasted the celebrated Vernaccia di San Gimignano, a crisp white wine that perfectly complemented the town’s rustic charm.

The next morning, we explored Montalcino, renowned for its Brunello wines, before arriving at Tenuta Castelgiocondo, part of the prestigious Frescobaldi family estates. Our visit included a tour of the cellars, an aperitif with local appetizers, and a leisurely lunch where we tasted the full range of Tenuta Castelgiocondo and Tenuta Luce wines. We later visited the nearby Tenuta Luce estate for an exclusive look at their facilities.

On our final day, we left central Tuscany and headed to the coast, beginning with a remarkable tasting at Ornellaia, one of Bolgheri’s most iconic wineries. The estate’s new tasting room and boutique added an elegant touch to the experience.

After lunch in Suvereto, where we discovered hidden Tuscan delicacies, we visited Tua Rita, a once-small family winery that has become world-renowned. Their renovated hospitality space and art-filled tasting rooms made this stop a perfect finale.

From the sun-drenched vineyards of Montepulciano and Chianti to the coastal estates of Bolgheri, Tuscany is a haven for the senses. Its combination of spectacular landscapes, medieval towns, celebrated wines, and authentic cuisine guarantees every visit is unforgettable.

Tuscany’s vineyards, history, and welcoming spirit will always call me back.
